  1. Good evening Sir
I am 2Lt Hajj, serving currently as a reserve armored officer at the Royal Canadian Hussars regiment in Montreal.
I will not take much of your time, I am just here to say A BIG thank you for your book “Praxis Tacticum”. Every page is like a new world, I repeat it a couple of times just to let it sink in my primitive brain and to prohibit even one information to slip away because this book is a well of golden teachings which we, as junior officers, don’t run into everyday. Such enlightenment in terms of tactics added on top of your personal experience, it can not get any better.
Even though I have sooo much to learn and a lot of time to be carved, but my ultimate goal is to follow your paved road. I am very interested in military tactics and you Sir, you are an inspiration.
I really hope we cross roads one day. Until then god speed and thank you enormously .

    1. Mr Hajj, I am so pleased that you found my book worthwhile, not least because you belong to a fine regiment which years ago was commanded by a dear friend of mine. I remind you that the purpose of my book is to help you develop your own ideas. I look forward to hearing from you in future.

      Yours

  2. A rather timely piece Chuck, given the latest exchanges between the IDF, Iran and the US. In their Introduction to War: Ends and Means (2nd Ed), Seabury and Codevilla write “Only peculiarly unmilitary minds confuse destruction with victory. It also takes a peculiarly unmilitary mind to confuse high-technology weapons with military effectiveness.” High tech is a tool, a means to an end. Both EBO and SOD (I have studied both) are also means to an end. To make them effective processes, one has to understand systems theory, and how failures will cascade through a complex system to achieve the desired end. It means wielding a scalpel, and not a hammer. But, even more persistent than the unchanging nature of war is the unchanging nature of man.

All this to say, agree that unmilitary minds exist within militaries. Don’t agree that they are all air force, though.

  3. Dear Charles S. Oliviero,

My name is Liza, and I am the manager of the Ukrainian publishing house Morpheus. We are interested in the books “Praxis Tacticum” and “Strategia” and would like to know if the rights are available for purchase and publication in Ukraine.
If so, please let us know about your terms and conditions, and if possible, please provide us with a file of the book so that we can evaluate it and make a final decision on the purchase.

    Thank you in advance.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
